An Unfinished Poem
written last 2021
Shakespeare and Wilde, Marie and
What do they have in common?
Great writers, indeed! But what else?
Have they had an emprise, an adventure that made them memorable?
Why must fate be so ruthless?
Why must desire be unattainable?
Is it wrong for me to wish for my dreams to be granted?
Is it pathetic of me to reach for the unreachable?
Should I be grateful for adventure?
This shibboleth of story after story coming after me?
But alas, these are tales that were bestowed
But the ones I stay awake for are yet to come
Here I am, one step at a time,
Some moments, I stand firm.
Some days I flounder,
Wobbling at the uncertain future that lies before me
Yet of this I am certain,
My footing on solid ground.
My future may be yet to unfold,
But it is written, and fate herself cannot change it.
