She wished she took the long way home.

She knew she made the mistake as soon as she stepped away from the door. The train beeps, signalling the doors closing as she steps back from the train. Years of hard work going down the drain just because of a “gut feeling.”

“For a logical person, this is nowhere near logical,” she mutters.

She leaves the station, her luggage on one hand and her coat on another. The streets were too quiet, forcing her to face her thoughts. It was still filled with people, mind you — going in different speeds, different directions, different destinations.

She shakes her head in regret, and looks down to the floor. A pair of shoes, a pair she knows all too well, stop in front of her. She looks up.

Maybe, this wasn’t a mistake after all.
